“The Assassin of the Mist!”
“On the way to the Land of Waves, with Kakashi threatening to abandon the mission if not provided with an adequate explanation for lying about the mission’s difficulty level, Tazuna reveals his desire to build a bridge to save the impoverished Land of Waves from the wealthy shipping magnate Gato. Hearing his story, Team 7 agreed to go through with the mission regardless, for humanitarian reasons. But once on the bridge, the group is ambushed by Zabuza Momochi, a rogue ninja from the Hidden Mist Village who works for Gato. Refusing to hand Tazuna over, Kakashi is forced to reveal a strange eye. The former is confused as to how Kakashi obtained it; Sasuke and Zabuza both recognize the strange eye as a Sharingan. While Team 7 protects Tazuna, Kakashi engages Zabuza, both using clones to distract the other to get them from behind.”

Analysis
The element of deception is evident on the part of Tazuna. Team 7 was only supposed to escort him to the Land of Waves. However, he didn’t tell them that Gato was planning to kill him. Although Tazuna was wrong to lie, his lie is justified because he wants to build a bridge to save his village from Gato. This bridge is important as it will help bring food and other materials needed in the village. As a result, Team 7 felt sympathetic, which is why they agreed to go through with the mission. In this case, Team 7 is shown to have compassion for others.
A threatening atmosphere is shown when the group is ambushed by Zabuza Momochi. He proves to be very strong as a ninja, to the extent that he compels Kakashi to reveal his Sharingan. Since the Sharingan is only inherited by Sasuke’s clan, the Uchiha Clan, Zabuza is confused about how Kakashi got it when he is not even a Uchiha. This scene brings out the mystery that is revealed in the sequel, Naruto Shippuden.
After Kakashi revealed his Sharingan, the battle continued between Kakashi and Zabuza. This leaves the audience in suspense until the next episode.
The lesson from this episode is that if someone is not happy about the situation they are currently in, they should do something about it, just like Tazuna is building the bridge despite Gato’s plans to kill him.
