During the battle, Orochimaru uses the Reanimation Jutsu to summon Hiruzen’s deceased predecessors: the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, who invented the Reanimation Jutsu, and the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. Analysis
The scene takes place at Hidden Leaf Village in the arena. From the episode I have seen, Kakashi summons Pakkun first, then Sakura wakes up Naruto. When she was about to wake Shikamaru, she noticed that Shikamaru had been faking it the whole time. So, Pakkun bites Shikamaru’s arm to wake him up. Shikamaru’s reason for faking it was that he didn’t want to get involved; hence, it was too much work for him. Eventually, Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru go on a pursuit to find Sasuke with the help of Pakkun.
Orochimaru begins his battle with Hiruzen, his mentor, before becoming the Third Hokage. Both display powerful techniques in what the observing ANBU describes as a Kage-level battle. Since the ANBU described the battle as Kage-level, it means that Orochimaru is extremely strong since he is on the same level as the third Hokage. Therefore, it is one of the reasons why he is one of the legendary Sannin. However, why did he abandon Hidden Leaf Village? Who are the other legendary Sannin? What’s his story with the third Hokage? This will be revealed in other episodes concerning the battle between Orochimaru and the Third Hokage, which makes the plot interesting.

Things got a whole lot more interesting when Orochimaru used the Reanimation Jutsu to summon the two former Hokages. They are Hiruzen’s former teachers; hence, there is a lot of history concerning them. As a result, it makes things emotional on the part of Hiruzen, who is forced to fight his former teachers, the ones he considered his role models. This again proves that Orochimaru is evil, using Hiruzen’s love and respect for his former teachers against him. The episode also served as a resolution, where some parts of the mystery of the plot were unravelled. Moreover, the history concerning the brothers will be revealed in the other anime, Naruto Shippuden. Furthermore, in this episode, it is revealed that Hiruzen stopped the Reanimation Jutsu of the Fourth Hokage, the one who saved the Hidden Leaf Village from the Nine-Tailed Fox. Thus, there is still a lot of mystery concerning the fourth Hokage, which will be revealed again in the other anime, Naruto Shippuden.
