From April 23rd to April 30th, 2025, I had the great opportunity to visit the real-life Paldea! If y’all didn’t know, Paldea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is based on Spain and Portugal. My parents and I spent a week in the Algarve of Portugal, Alfornada’s inspiration in SV, and spent a day in Seville, Spain.
Because of this incredible adventure, I received amazing inspiration for Infrared’s sequel, now that I’ve seen the real-life Paldea, and am happy to announce that I’ve got the basic plot down! Arven and his friends will travel to Alfornada (since the Algarve is the only place in Portugal I’m familiar with) and embark on a new adventure that will test them, especially Arven, in ways they never expected.
I’ll share some real-life experiences that occurred during my time in Portugal and Spain; this will give you a basic understanding of our trip and how Paldea culture compares to that of Spain and Portugal, which are very similar. I can confirm that sandwiches, olives (they had amazing olives there!), and oranges are huge in Portugal and Spain. Just like Mesagoza in SV, orange trees line the streets of Seville.
To prepare for this exciting sequel and to give you guys an even better story, I’m replaying through Pokémon Scarlet and focusing heavily on the Algarve/Alfornada area of the games.
All this is to say that I hope to start distributing the sequel to you in a few more months, once I’ve completed a few of my original works! The title and overall plot are still being developed, but the basic idea is in place.
I hope you’re all looking forward to this as much as I am! It’s time to make our way home (The Way Home reference)!
