Piping hot pies

She asks me to carry two

But today I feel too blue

The demand increases to three

Perhaps I’ll flee

“Three? How could that be” I imply

She just says, “We have an oversupply.”

So here I must oversimplify

The simplest of tasks,

Carrying piping hot pies

Dear god, I’m far from spry

The room I cross, one on my head, two in my hands

Kegstands, jazzbands, still I hear her commands

“Table two! Quickly now.”

Oh, today I feel too blue.

On I march huffing breaths, beaded sweat

If dropped, I’ll surely be in debt

Trials and tribulations prevailed

Laid down my burden bared

Those piping hot pies

Now filled with flies.
