I'm not as skinny as the other girls

And my hair is not as tame.

My skin's not as clear as the other girls'

And I wish I looked the same.

I hide my face behind my hair.

I keep my eyes down on the ground.

I try to act like I don't care

That I'm not as pretty as the girls I'm around.

'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.' 

I wish I thought that was true,

But whenever I eat my favorite meal,

I know that starving myself is something I cannot do.

I have good days but they're mostly bad.

I try to tell myself that its all on my head,

But I'm not good enough and it makes me sad,

So I sit and I cry all alone in my bed

No one gave me these negative thoughts;

I told myself they were the truth until I believed it.

I imagine people judging me even when they're not,

But the insults in my head just won't quit.

I look in the mirror far too long

Until I hate everything I see.

Everything about me is wrong,

Though the only person who thinks so is me.

I hold onto every compliment I receive,

Though I don't believe they were meant for me.

Sometimes I wish everybody would leave,

But even then I know I wouldn't be free

Why do I do this when I know it's not true?

I know that I'm beautiful so why do I doubt?

I put myself down it's just what I do.

I don't want this life please so let me out.
