From the rooftop, papers flew like white birds as Garah’s body plummeted. But what no one saw—what no one remembered—was the moment her uniform caught on a tree branch.

A tear.

A gasp.

A body slowed—not saved, just delayed.

Then silence again, as her body finally hit the earth below.

Present Day — Emergency Room

Freya stood outside the glass, fists clenched, eyes hollow.

Inside, Garah lay still. Bruised. Breathing—but barely. Tubes ran across her arms. A nurse whispered to a doctor, “She might not wake up.”

Sandra was there too, just behind Freya. Quiet. Stoic. Almost too calm.

“She jumped,” she said softly.
