If I close my eyes, I can quite enjoy the calm and cozy afternoon that has settled around me.
Beyond this shell of mine, the world could easily be burning, crumbling at its edges, and I wouldn't even notice. Instead, I find myself brushing the rim of my Earl Grey, dreaming about ways to make the evening ahead even better.
