“My shadow, come to me when the world is enveloped in sleep. Embrace me tightly and don’t let go until the first rays of the sun fall on my skin.”

‘The view of Vire’mor from above is beautiful, especially when it is deep in sleep. I slowly tucked my legs under me. I was sitting on the windowsill of our tower. The tower of dreams. The cool wind played with my hair as I continued to watch the city of dreams from above. A delicate mist rose between the mosaic streets, reflecting off the black stone of the buildings. It was from this mist that the beautiful dreams of its inhabitants emerged. I saw spirit fish and nightmare moths swimming in the sky. The streets were filled with little rabbits and deer. I sighed quietly as I ran my fingers through my hair.

‘Can Vire’mor last forever? What will happen when Nox and I have to leave this place to continue our story?’
I slowly looked towards our bed where Nox was lying. His face was covered by an old, leather book. The book was black and on the cover in gold letters was the symbol of dreams. Chronicle of dreams. The yellow pages crackled slightly as he turned them. His face, although it rarely changed, was focused. I looked at him for a while longer. Without a word. My hands unconsciously went to my stomach. My tail wrapped around my hips. The words came out of my mouth faster than I could think them through.

“Nox, there is something I have to tell you.”

The crackling of the paper stopped abruptly. And Nox lowered the book. His gaze was directed straight at me. Then he slid off the bed and approached me. Listening to the clatter of porcelain on stone, I swallowed.
‘This is the moment Yara… At most he won’t agree…’
I felt his cold hands take me into a hug.

“What is it Yara?”
I hid my face in his robes. But after a moment I looked up, right into his eyes.

“You know I’ve been thinking about the future of our city lately. About what will happen to it when the time comes to move on.”

“My dear, Vire’mor will continue to exist, even when we are far away.”
I felt his lips brush my cheek.

“Nox, I… want a child… with you. The heir to the throne of Vire’mor.”

I felt his arms tense up and the grip he held me in loosened. I felt my heart pounding in my chest. The silence seemed to last forever. Even the wind itself fell silent almost as if it was giving us a moment of privacy.

“A child?”

His voice was barely a whisper in my mind. I gently took his face in my hands. But he didn’t react. I could feel his cool breath on my skin, but he himself seemed absent.

“Yara… Are you… Are you sure this is what you want?”

I nodded gently.

“This is something I desire very much, a successor of Vire’mor and our little dream together.”

Nox gently touched my cheek, and his lips parted in a soft, barely noticeable smile.

“If this is your desire, then this is mine… Gee, I never thought that…”
“Sst… Say no more.” I replied as I ran my finger over his lips.
