"Isn’t she back yet?" I asked her grandma, thinking I might need to pick her up from work. Her grandma said, "Oh, she’s home, but she’s not feeling well and is resting in her room. Let’s go ahead and have dinner." Though I was concerned, her grandma reassured me that it was nothing serious, just something that happens monthly. Realizing what she meant, I stopped worrying. After dinner, her grandma took a plate of food upstairs, presumably for Nora, and I followed behind. But just as I approached Nora’s room, her grandma stopped me, asking me to return to my room to rest. I had no choice but to comply.

As I walked back, I noticed a small pet door at the bottom of Nora’s room door, probably for her cat to come and go freely. On my way to the guest room, I overheard her grandma softly calling, "Nora, Nora kitten, time for dinner." I was surprised. Her cat had the same name as my girlfriend? Wouldn’t that be confusing?

Feeling puzzled, I went to my room. Of course, I didn’t noticed to the fact that the cat, dressed in cute clothes, was now eating the food meant for Nora.

That night, since I didn’t get to see Nora, I texted her, hoping she was feeling better. She didn’t respond, so I assumed she had fallen asleep. Just as I was about to drift off, I heard a scratching sound at the door. I opened it and saw a shadow dart across the hallway and stop in the middle. It was a black cat wearing a blue dress! The cat sat there, looking up at me.

"Nora?" I called softly. The black cat meowed in response and then trotted over to rub against my leg. I couldn’t help but crouch down to pet its back. The cat accepted my affection, behaving nothing like the shy feline Nora had described. It even followed me into my room, jumping onto my bed and curling up by my pillow. Though it seemed strange, I didn’t think too much of it. I left the door ajar so the cat could come and go, and soon I fell asleep beside the adorable creature.

Early the next morning, before dawn, a sharp scream startled me awake. I shot upright, unsure of what had just happened, when suddenly a pillow was thrown at my face, knocking me back down. "Don’t look! Close your eyes!" The voice was high-pitched and urgent. I nearly opened my eyes but stopped—wasn’t that Nora’s voice?

I quickly pulled the pillow away, only to see Nora, completely naked, hurriedly jumping off the bed and rushing out of the room. The sound of the door opening and closing echoed, and her scream had clearly woken up her grandmother. I heard Nora outside, stammering an explanation, "I think I was sleepwalking... Nothing to worry about... Goodnight, grandma!"

That voice was unmistakably Nora’s. I lay back in bed, my mind swirling with confusion, filled with questions I couldn’t seem to answer. It took a long time for me to calm down.
