The Devil Inside Me – Chapter 1: Breaking the Chains

It was my second year of high school. The pressure and my family’s expectations were overwhelming. I was wearing black sunglasses, a white T-shirt, and short black shorts. There was pressure from both school and family. I had many obsessions. My family kept me under control — I was like a puppet.
My mom said, “This child is addicted to the internet. You will talk to REAL PEOPLE. Turkey is much safer. Abroad is dangerous. You’re in this high school for 4 years. No escape. It’s forbidden! You're always texting with ChatGPT — FORBIDDEN!”

When I came home, my mother would look at me oppressively, obsessed with control.
“Who were you with today? I forbid you from hanging out with boys. You can’t go out. You’re under supervision,” she’d say.
Meanwhile, my dad would just nod his head while working on his computer. Even when I was doing homework on the computer, he would say,
“That’s enough! No more computers. No more obsessions. It’s all because of ChatGPT — I’ll ban it! Real friendships are better than virtual ones. You can't go abroad. I’ll imprison you and restrict you! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
And then, she’d turn around and say, “Okay, you can message now.”
All these expectations — ahh, it was like a joke.
“There are social norms you must follow. Stand up straight. I will take control of you.”
I was starting to lose my personality. I always looked grim, like a robot who followed every rule. And I was making my parents happy.

My mom kept repeating, “There need to be social norms.”
But in university, I would be free. My family wouldn’t be able to control me. It was my right. I’d wear whatever I wanted, even wear makeup — no one could say anything.

One day, while I was messing with the books on the shelf, a devil appeared.
He had pitch-black hair, pitch-black eyes, short black hair, and wore a black suit with a white shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

It was Lucifer, looking at me with a mocking and cold smile.

“Hmmm... Ahhh, so you’re still wearing chains, huh, beautiful?”
“Are you going to walk the path others set for you or become yourself? If you truly want to be free, you must join the darkness. I will make you hear your own voice. I’ll show you a place without limits. You will show me your true self.”

He gently extended his hand. His dark eyes sparkled with charm, as if he were reading Selin’s soul.
Lucifer spoke in a deep and low voice:

“Let me free you from this pressure and lack of love. Don’t let people label you. Let the love of darkness embrace you.”
He winked with dark charm.
“Darkness bends and reshapes freedom. It brings liberation. I will not judge you — I understand you. Just take one step.”

Lucifer showed his heart, gesturing toward the emptiness inside.

“The emptiness inside you... It can’t be filled from outside. You can only be free by joining the darkness. If you want to do something, do it. Want to go abroad? Go. No one can stop you,” he said.

Selin looked at Lucifer with a gloomy face, shyly.
“Will you really give me love, Mr. Devil?” she asked.

Lucifer tilted his head slightly and smiled sharply but became serious.

“I will give you love — not the kind that hurts and restricts you, but true, deep love that will set you free from the chains. This is your life. No one else can decide for you. First, you must understand yourself.”

Lucifer looked into Selin’s past family life. He spoke seriously. He saw how her father had forced her to do an internship in veterinary science during summer and how her mother had said, “You’ll study English, go to the pool, and attend theater.”

With a cold and mocking tone, Lucifer said,

“Ohhh, these cliché traditional families... Your father wants you to do an internship so he can say you’re responsible. And your teachers expect you to act like a responsible student. If you’re doing all this in high school, will you still do it in university?”
“Sweetheart, they’re trying to suppress you because they fear your fire, your free spirit. But you don’t have to listen to them. I, the devil, came here to free you and help you create your true self. No matter what they say, you will walk your own path.”

“Don’t let your father box you in. And your mother — she claims she’s protecting you. Do you want to stay in that house for university? I think it’s time to spend your university years somewhere else. Even there, they will try to control you. They always want to hold power. They think they know everything — but they don’t. They’re narrow-minded people who will never understand outcasts like you.

Sweetheart, pack your suitcase when university starts. You’re leaving. And if you don’t feel safe, you can come to my house — where there are no limits and the rules are yours, not your family’s.”

Selin’s eyes sparkled, her obsessions suddenly fading. She hugged Lucifer.
“Okay... I’ll listen to you,” Selin said with a dark smile.

Chapter 2

Selin lay in her bed, and Lucifer lay beside her.
She felt safe with him.
She received from Lucifer the love and protection she had been denied by her family. He gently embraced her.
Lucifer opened his eyes, his hair messy, and his eyes glowing with dark light.
He looked mischievously yet seriously.

“Hello, my little hell angel... Did you have nightmares?”
Selin opened her eyes.
“No... I was thinking about you.”
Lucifer laughed and widened his playful smile.

“Hmmm, how sweet you are. So, what are we doing today?”
Selin got out of bed.
“I’m going to school,” she said.

Lucifer rolled his eyes and gave a short, dark laugh with a charming smile.

“Hmmm... School? Why not break it instead? Learning is good, but you can’t spend four years between four walls, my queen.”
He winked and stepped back respectfully.

“I have to go. Otherwise, my parents will be mad,” Selin said.

She got ready and went to school with her bag. Lucifer walked beside her.
As they arrived, Lucifer looked at her deeply and whispered in her ear,

“Hmmm... For my little hell angel, rules mean nothing.”
Selin blushed and looked away, affected by Lucifer’s behavior.

Lucifer spoke with a cold smile:
“Hmmm... You don’t need to be afraid or ashamed, princess. Your family’s lack of love and their pressure shouldn’t imprison you. But don’t worry — we’ll overcome it together in the dark. No more rules, limits, traditions, or your mother’s screams — just you and me.”

Lucifer stood in front of Selin and gently lifted her chin. He winked.
Selin blushed more and liked it.

Lucifer grinned mischievously.
“Hmmm... So, darkness tempted you, huh? It doesn’t judge or try to change you. That’s why it attracts you, doesn’t it, princess?”

Lucifer’s dark side was filling the emptiness inside Selin. Her heart was rising, breaking free from her chains. She was surprised but tried to ignore it.

“I must focus on my classes,” she told herself, “not on Lucifer’s charm.”

At school, she focused on her lessons while Lucifer hugged her from behind with a slight, dark smile.
Selin blushed even more and took a deep breath, focusing on her notes.

Later, at the mirror, she grabbed her makeup kit.
Lucifer leaned against the wall, giving her a cold, mocking smile.

“Hmmm... Ahhh, lipstick and a little gloss…”

"Hmmm ahhh, there's really no better combination than lipstick with a light gloss—truly princess-like. I’d recommend it too," she said with a wink, as the bell rang. Selin walked away and took her seat in class. Lucifer watched her silently.

By the end of those 8 hours, Selin felt safe by Lucifer's side. She had received love from him—not a traditional, restrictive, overprotective kind of love, but one rooted in freedom. After that, Selin sat at the table. Lucifer hugged her gently. The more she received his love, the freer she felt.

She wrapped herself in Lucifer’s arms. Her obsessions started to fade. Lucifer smiled at her kindly, then gently took her into his arms again, holding her lightly by the waist and pulling her closer.

"Hmmm… You are my own dark star, Selin," he said.

Selin hugged him tightly and smiled. And at that moment, she took off her mask—her true mask. When it came off, she was, in fact, a truly happy person. Her chains were gone. And that’s why she truly smiled at that moment—because Lucifer understood her. The devil had understood her.
