“The Creator was surely with us!” John said.
Marley and Naomi’s father was finally free from the T.S.I. He had been erased from existence for five years. Stripped away from his family and his home. This was all because he was protecting Rasadians and giving his life for them.
Joseph wept as he embraced his daughters, “I never thought I would see you guys again!”
“God brought us back together Dad,” Marley cried.
Kay-ani, who was watching from a distance, had tears in her eyes, as she was glad that the man who had saved her was alive.
“It's over now,” I whispered, thinking somehow they could hear me.
John continued flying the ship after he had patched his wound. I figured I’d go and check on Car-ri who was sitting alone at a table.
When I sat down, Car-ri scooted over, seeming afraid of me.
“Are you alright?,” I asked her. “Are you hungry?”
“Esi,” she pointed to the cabinets.
“What? What is it?”
“Oodida.”
“She’s saying food,” Kay-ani said.
“Is she speaking…?”
“Rasadian. Yes. She understands what you are saying, but can only respond in Rasadian.”
“Hmm. Maybe she is pointing to those onions John put in there earlier.”
Kay-ani went to where Car-ri was pointing. She took out one onion, and a cassava from the cabinet.
“Here you go.” She handed it to Car-ri who began eating them right away.
“Akia. Akia.” Car-ri said.
“Did she just say thank you?” I asked.
“Yes,” Kay-ani nodded.
As we watched Car-ri eating her food, I told Kay-ani about what I had seen.
“They made you suffer. I’m so sorry that I didn’t find you earlier.”
“There’s no need to be sorry. I’m safe now,” she said. “It’s time to do what The Creator has placed in our hands. We have to save the rest of them. We have to fix this.”
“I know.” I said.
While everyone settled down, I went and sat next to John. He had just finished asking Naomi her home address so that he could type it into the GPS.
“We must be taking them back home first?” I asked.
“We are. It’ll be time to say goodbye soon,” he said and padded me on the shoulder.
I took out the brown journal that grandpa had gifted me from out of my backpack. I stared at the first page with the message that he had written on it.
I flipped to the blank pages, and ripped out six pieces of paper.
