“We got into a car accident about two weeks ago.” I sniffled. “We were having a really heated argument and I got mad and wanted to go home, but he wouldn’t take me, so I yanked on the wheel which caused us to run into a tree. Instead of being angry like I thought she would be, her soft hand was gently stroking my head as I cried into her chest. Her arms around me felt so warm and comforting. I felt safe. I felt assured. What was she doing to me? I’ve never felt emotions likes these except for when I was with Crimson and Arty, but it feels different somehow with Nia. It felt...motherly. Was this a mother’s comfort? My face morphed into surprised as I pulled away from the hug to stare at her in disbelief. “I caused your son to have an IED episode and I caused him nearly lose his life in a car crash. She sighed as meek smile formed on her face. “Maybe I should rephrase my statement. What I meant was, I believe that you are truly a good person. So you respond in a negative way to social situations because it’s the only way you know how to. You’ve never been taught how to be positive. It’s no one’s fault but theirs why you’re the way you are. And to be honest, this entire ordeal with Crimson is their fault. A lot of things would’ve never happened if my parents actually loved me. My life would’ve been completely different. But even so, most of the blame still falls on me. I am sixteen, nearly seventeen years old. I should be able to control my temper and tongue when it is called for. I shouldn’t be as impulsive as I am. Thankfully, everyone at the scene had been so enamored by an unconscious Crimson, that they didn’t really pay attention to me for the first few minutes and that gave me enough time to cover the bruises that Crimson had inflicted on me with Apricot’s scarf. I didn’t want to do this. I really didn’t want to do this. But I have to. I have to start taking responsibility for my actions. Usually, if something like this happened, I’d make Arty deal with the press and clean up the mess I made because of the selfish and immature person that I was. But not anymore.
