I was told to believe

That glass legs could move

I was told to improve

With a foundation made of sand

I was told that I would reach land

Despite the coming wave

I was told to be brave

With nothing but a paper sword

Nothing but a pawn on the board

I was told to charge

With no time to recharge

I was told to die

With no chance to see the promised blue sky

I lose my breath

In this game of sudden death

No progress was made

My purpose, unpaid
