Daria clutched her stomach as she tried to stifle her whimpers. Waves of sharp, piercing pain coursed through her body from her stomach, rocking her with shivers. Every nerve in her body felt like it was on fire, her skin burned then the fire ceased. The void created by the flames rushing over her, left her vulnerable to the icy hell that swept in after. Hot to cold the cycle repeated. The respite of emptiness between cycles kept her sane long enough to think. 21Please respect copyright.PENANAFt0Ft57B5d
Something had made her sick. Daria took a long shaky breath, breathing made her pains worse. There were no weird smells in the air. Then it had to have been something she ate. She had felt fine after breakfast, and she'd made it herself, she'd have know if something was off before eating it. Lunch—21Please respect copyright.PENANAy9Mzmx5IKJ
Her mother had prepared lunch. That wasn't odd, her mother made lunch every Sunday. As long as she could remember, she had always eaten her mother's lunches and never been ill. Was this an allergic reaction? Couldn't be, her mother knew the foods she was allergic to.
Daria hugged her stomach. The pain was increasing. This wasn't an allergy. It was poison! Grandmother had taught her to be sensitive to poisons. Daria replayed her meal interaction. She had noticed an off scent with her lunch, but her mother had brushed it off saying it was a new seasoning. Was everyone else okay?21Please respect copyright.PENANATunRnyhnBI
Daria crawled out of her room, laughter came from her parents' room. As she crawled to her parents room a burning sensation coursed down her throat and lit a blaze in her stomach. Now she was hot, both inside and out, her breath came in short gasps. Breathing burned, the air felt too hot. 21Please respect copyright.PENANAT2IMMkg7Qf
Daria tugged at her shirt collar as she crawled through the door to her parents' room. Her mother and father lay cuddled on the bed watching television. 21Please respect copyright.PENANAyytUrVQ65Z
'Mom. Dad.' She called, but her voice came out a barely audible whisper.
Trying to talk seemed to bruise her throat, Daria coughed, rocked by a violent spasm that brought blood to her mouth.
"Daria?" Her mother called out to her.
Daria hadn't noticed before, but she had been feeling overly exhausted. She could barely keep her body upright anymore and collapsed to her back. Her strength seemed to be decreasing by the seconds. She didn't want to die. Tears trickled down into her hair.21Please respect copyright.PENANAJiTdA1Tg1n
Daria's mother left the bed and walked over to her. "You certainly are durable. More than your father." She said standing over Daria.
Through the tears in her eyes and her blurred vision, Daria could barely make out her mother's face. There was no concern or panic in her mother's eyes. Just a cold blank stare.
"I never should have had you." Her mother muttered.
Her mother always had a disinterested look plastered on her face, but now Daria realised it wasn't disinterest. She never cared. Daria let out a one last sound. A chuckle.21Please respect copyright.PENANARMu0g6i8vl
