“It’s him!” Ah-Zhai pointed at the plainly dressed young man and whispered to Lin Xiaoqiang and Wang Meili, “I just ‘saw’ it—it was him who secretly gave that little vial to the golden retriever!”
Lin Xiaoqiang nodded. “I heard his inner voice too. It was him, up to no good!”
“So what do we do now? Go straight up and expose him?” Wang Meili asked worriedly.
“No, we need evidence. Solid, undeniable evidence!” Lin Xiaoqiang replied calmly. “Ah-Zhai, can your ‘Three-Second Precognition’ help us one more time?”
Ah-Zhai took a deep breath, focused his mind, and once again attempted to foresee the next few seconds. He “saw” the young man quietly pulling another tiny vial from his pocket, preparing to use the same trick in the next round—this time targeting a poodle that looked like a sure contender for the championship.
“I’ve got it! He’s going after that poodle!” Ah-Zhai said immediately.
The trio sprang into action. While most of the audience was distracted by the performance on stage, Lin Xiaoqiang quietly approached the young man. Wang Meili stood by, ready to react to any sudden developments, while Ah-Zhai kept his eyes locked on the suspect, waiting for the moment he pulled out the second vial to activate his “Time Pause.”
Sure enough, just before the elaborately dressed poodle was about to take the stage, the young man stealthily pulled out a vial identical to the first.
“Now!” Ah-Zhai whispered to himself and decisively activated “Three-Second Time Pause.”
Time froze instantly. The young man's hand hung motionless in the air, the liquid in the vial catching the light with an eerie shimmer. Ah-Zhai dashed forward and snatched the vial from his hand.
Time resumed.
The young man was startled to find the vial had vanished. Before he could react, Ah-Zhai shouted, “Everyone, look! This is the mind-control perfume he used to rig the contest!”
He held the vial high. A strong, sickly sweet fragrance wafted from the bottle—identical to the scent from before.
All eyes turned to them. The young man’s face went pale as a sheet. He tried to flee, but Wang Meili stepped forward in a flash, blocking his path.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Wang Meili said coldly, her hands already glowing faintly with a soft pink light.
Faced with irrefutable evidence, the young man could only bow his head in defeat. He admitted to secretly concocting the “mind-control perfume” and attempting to influence the judges for a hefty cash prize.
The judges took a whiff of the vial, recalling the unnatural euphoria they'd felt earlier. Realization dawned on them—they unanimously disqualified the contestant and agreed to re-evaluate the competition results.
But just as order was about to be restored, a sudden “Pink Catastrophe” descended.
Perhaps it was due to emotional overload, but Wang Meili's superpower went out of control again! A burst of intense pink light shot from her hands, not only striking the cheating contestant, but also a few pets and nearby judges.
The young man was instantly dyed a vibrant pink from head to toe, looking utterly ridiculous. Some of the affected pets had their fur turn soft pink, while others looked as if cherry blossom petals had been sprinkled over them.
Even more dramatic—the judges who had previously fallen under the perfume’s spell now wore expressions of deep disgust as the pink light snapped them out of their trance.
“Oh my god! What was I even thinking just now? That golden retriever isn't cute at all! I hate pink!” one male judge exclaimed, clutching his face in dismay.
“Me too! That sickly sweet smell is revolting! I never want to see pink again!” another female judge shook her head repeatedly.
The scene descended into chaos once more. Pet owners, now confronted with their pink-tinted animals, were horrified and utterly confused.
Lin Xiaoqiang and Ah-Zhai stood frozen in place, stunned by this sudden “pink backlash,” at a loss for words.
Wang Meili scratched her head awkwardly and mumbled, “Sorry… I lost control again…”
In the end, the pet beauty pageant wrapped up amidst a sea of pink-colored chaos. Though the cheater had been exposed, the final results of the competition became even more uncertain, thanks to Wang Meili’s “accident.”
As always, the Supernatural Research Club trio had once again managed to thoroughly stir up what should’ve been a perfectly normal event—with their own unique flair.
