Since Dr. Klaus was taken away, Barbie City had finally shaken off that bizarre pink shadow. The animals once affected by the extradimensional energy gradually returned to normal, resuming their carefree everyday lives.
However, the pink “aftershock” hadn’t entirely vanished.
The most obvious side effect? Wang Meili’s pink superpowers had become… increasingly unpredictable. She often, unintentionally, turned her coffee into a pink milkshake or caused roadside flowers to suddenly bloom into bright pink blossoms—much to her own confusion and embarrassment.
As for Otaku, during the incident he had accidentally “activated” the stabilization mechanism of the extradimensional energy core, which seemed to have triggered some “new features” in his superpower. He started to experience brief and blurry flashes of “premonition”—always popping up at the most unexpected moments.
For instance, he might suddenly “see” himself getting hit on the head by a pigeon… and sure enough, it happened. Or he might “foresee” Lin Xiaoqiang sneezing, and the next second Lin Xiaoqiang would indeed unleash an earth-shaking sneeze. These premonitions were erratic and completely random, leaving Otaku utterly frustrated.
“What the heck is going on?! Did my ‘time freeze’ evolve into a ‘three-second premonition’ that’s totally random?!” Otaku groaned, clutching his hair in despair as he complained to Lin Xiaoqiang and Wang Meili.
“Maybe it’s because you came into contact with the extradimensional energy core,” Lin Xiaoqiang guessed. “That energy might’ve affected your power.”
“But this is just plain unfair! I’d rather crash into a lamppost while freezing time than have these pointless premonitions!” Otaku wailed.
What made it worse was that these “premonitions” came with strange side effects. Whenever he foresaw something bad about to happen, his body would react on its own—doing all sorts of bizarre things.
For example, when he “saw” Wang Meili about to drop her ice cream, his body instinctively lunged forward and grabbed both her and the ice cream in one awkward embrace, causing an incredibly uncomfortable scene.
Or, when he “saw” a flowerpot falling from above toward Lin Xiaoqiang, he suddenly sprang into the air like he had springs in his shoes and used his head to block the flowerpot—only to end up seeing stars from the impact.
“Otaku! What are you doing?! Are you trying to become a human lightning rod or a living flowerpot stand?!” Wang Meili looked at his bruised and battered face, torn between laughter and exasperation.
Lin Xiaoqiang shook his head helplessly. “Otaku, you’d better try to control your ‘premonitions,’ or you’re going to end up seriously hurting yourself.”
But Otaku’s “visions” were completely beyond his control, like an unpredictable time bomb ready to trigger a new wave of ridiculous accidents at any moment.
Just as the three members of the Supernatural Research Club were trying to adapt to the lingering “superpower side effects” left behind by the pink conspiracy, something even stranger quietly descended upon Barbie City.
Some residents began reporting that they were waking up in the middle of the night—only to hear their pets speaking fluent human language!
“My cat actually told me last night that she wants premium tuna cans—and that the cat litter I bought was too rough!” one middle-aged woman cried out to the Supernatural Research Club in horror.
“My dog’s even worse! He crawled into bed in the middle of the night and started discussing Shakespeare’s sonnets with me!” a young man added, looking completely bewildered.
Barbie City’s supernatural stories were turning out to be far more bizarre—and far more thrilling—than anyone had ever imagined…
