When the passengers are begging to stay rooted to the spot?

When the train lurches forward without warning

With gravity off-axis and limbs flying

When the steam billows into a dizzying blur

When the whistle deafens the poor people holding on for dear life?

Slicing through the ground like air

No end in sight, just faster and faster

The coal so hot it’s nearly diamonds now

“The emergency brake!” but no one dares to touch
