''Miss Kasi, we meet again," Mr Tang greeted with a smile in his eyes as he entered the room, sitting besides Junyan.
Today, he was in a full well fit suit, the neck tie was properly tied around his neck, the watch on his left hand softly glowed against his hand. A trench coat was thrown on top, leaving the rest of the outfit to ones imaginations, he really put those magazine male models to shame.
Chairman Yi Ren closed the door behind him and also returned to his sit behind his desk.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Tang," I forced out with a polite smile.
"Welcome Mr Tang, Junyan and Kasi seemed to have gotten along well in your absence," Yi Ren said.
"Really?" Mr Tang inquired with genuine surprise at his words, turning to look at his son."That's great then, I knew Miss Kasi was good to her students,"
"Well she is, what would each one of you like to drink?" Yi Ren asked as he dialed a number on the office phone that was on the table.
"Water is just fine," Mr. Tang answered.
"Same as Mr. Tang please," I replied as Yi Ren shook his head in understanding.
"How about you Junyan? would you like uncle to order you something? How about milk? I can also send for cake," Yi Ren asked in a pampering voice.
"I don't want to drink or eat," Junyan cutely replied.
"Really? how about Ice-cream?" Yi Ren asked as he proceeded to talk to his secretary Via the phone to bring our drinks.
"After having his breakfast, Junyan doesn't eat anything-else until lunch, that's just how he is, don't order anything for him," Mr. Tang said with a helpless sigh.
Hearing Mr. Tang's words, I wondered how a child can be that well principled, following such strict rules at a young age. A question of his mother stationed itself in my head. Where was she? wasn't this such a big day for her son? Attending school for the first time would have most elementary students stressed and calling for their moms. Looking at the cute and well behaved face of Junyan, he was the opposite of children his age.
The secretary came after a few minutes and placed bottled water in-front of Mr. Tang and I, bowing slightly as she retreated. I picked up the bottle and slowly twisted it, forcing it to open as I took a sip. Having Mr.Tang sitting a few feet away really made me somewhat nervous, I had to cool off.
"Miss Kasi. Mr. Tang loved your work ethics and immediately chose you to be Junyan's teacher. Per my observation, I don't have any objection," Chairman Yi Ren said.
I almost chocked on the water that had just entered my throat at such words. What work ethics? Mr. Tang only met me thrice and only one time was I with the students and that too on a prohibited teaching area!
"Miss Kasi is really nice to her students, Junyan will be safe and happy in her hands," Mr. Tang said with that smile in his eyes that I had tried to forget! How was it even possible to smile with just ones eyes? What was with these exaggerated praises? I really had to distance myself from this man, he was really dangerous.
"Thank you for the appreciation," I said closing the water bottle, it was better not to drink for the time being in-order to avoid accidents.
"Alright, Since the atmosphere is right, I guess Miss Kasi, you can take Junyan to meet his new classmates," Yi Ren said.
Seeing a chance to leave the room, I immediately stood up and walked towards Junyan, slowly helping him out of the chair and walking towards the door.
"Say goodbye to dad?" I said as we were already some feet away from Mr. Tang.
"Bye Pa," Junyan waved at him.
"Why are you waving from a mile away?" Mr. Tang chuckled as he said. "Let Miss Kasi take you to class then,"
I slowly sighed in relief, I hoped Mr. Tang hadn't noticed my intentional fleeing of the place, it would be awkward if he noticed. "Well. Me and Junyan shall get going," I said.
"Miss Kasi. A minute please," Mr. Tang said causing me to pause in my footsteps and turn to look at him with inquiry " Can I have a word after you are done dropping Junyan off to his class? It will just be some small talk, feel free,"
Seeing the serious look on his face, I simply nodded in affirmation. "Alright," I said as I exited the room, slowly leading Junyan away, my head lost in thought. What did he want to talk about ?
"Miss Kasi? " A small voice called out, snapping me out of my daze. It was Junyan whose small hand was in mine.
"Yes? Is everything alright?" I inquired as i scooted down, looking Junyan in his eyes.
"I forgot to bring my school bag," Junyan said.
"Oh, did you come with it when you were leaving home?" I asked as i soothed out his small suit coat, underneath it, a small woolen coat was properly hidden but the blend was non the less good. Thinking back, the weather was getting colder and winter was coming, i had to remind other students to carry coats and sweaters later.
"Yes, Aunt Po packed everything i needed," Junyan replied with a stable tone.
I didn't know who this Aunt Po was but it seemed Junyan's bag might be in Chairman Yi Ren's office since he left home with it. "Well, i am going to have a small talk with your dad later, I will ask him about your bag and bring it back to you. Let me first take you to meet your classmates, they are all nice, they are going to like you," I said. Junyan nodded his head in understanding as I stood up leading him to the elementary class.
Teacher Wǎn Tíng was watching the children who had finished having their breakfast. Some where sitted Infront of her listening to instructions on how to operate some tiny pulleys when we arrived.
"Teacher Kasi!" Fei Fei loudly called before running towards me but suddenly stopped in her tracks after seeing Junyan besides me.
I gently smiled as I gently led Junyan forward towards the group of small children.
"Miss Kasi," Wǎn Tíng politely called as she stood up heading towards me. I nodded towards her and softly whispered in her ear about the new student.
"Every one, meet Junyan, he will be part of us starting today," I said as I led Junyan to sit besides, Shen, the little shy boy in glasses who seemed cautious at first but then later shared one of his favorite robot doll to Junyan, surprising me.
Shen seemed easy to approach but that was not really 100% true, he didn't like sharing his robotics with anyone and would cry if one went missing or if it were misplaced.
Seeing Junyan accept the toy, I sighed in relief, I guess my job here was done. I said a few encouraging words to the children before leaving Wǎn Tíng behind to take care of the rest.
Heading back to the administration block, my mind was not at all settled, I wondered what Mr. Tang wanted to discuss. All in all, I wanted to stay as far away from him as possible!
