You can't help but see her

sour orchard history

and wonder and ask why

her home's a tart mystery ;

Rotten pears and black wood

with gargoyles, barns, and blue trees ;

Each window's and door's dark

each scowling woman you see

betrayed by her husband

with daughters waiting to be set free ;

Don't know them, don't care to

For she was bathed and dressed in hatred

She was fed poison and she was told lies

Built up, torn down, and she

couldn't stay, she couldn't return ;

And each hall's a long walk for her

She thinks their hearts are sharp filigree ;

You won't want to know why

these baby pics are shady

or know why they are few ;

So many origami

secrets beneath the farm

baked apples and potpourri ;

Skeletons in the basement

Bones and toys left in the silo

Hark how she powerfully plays

that calliopean piano

drowning out her sour orchard blues !

She sure loves her mama

and her mama's mama

and hopes their rage have gone for good

because she was made by scorned women

so she plays a cacophony

vocalizing her wedding vows

hoping maybe she won't be betrayed

the farther she's away from the farm

You can't help but see her
