The darkness.

Right there.

So close, so dark.

She sits there just waiting, waiting for me.

She calls to me.

She screams for my blood.

She is there every second of every day.

Waiting,

calling,

screaming,

for me.

I want to go to her.

I want so badly to just give into the dark, to let her carry me away into the cold.

She bites at my ankles

desperately trying to grab me,

to pull me down.

I gasp in fear, and my heart jerks,

but I can never escape.

It is always there one step behind me ready for me to trip to fall.

I stumble and she catches me.

She tastes my blood.

Feels my fear and anger, oh god so much anger.

She knows me.

She waits for me.

She scares me.

I can never escape.

Maybe, maybe it’s finally time.

Time to stop and accept it.

Maybe I should let her bring me into the cold.
