This is my first poem and I used it in a supernatural story called "Deirdre" that I published in fictionpress.com1005Please respect copyright.PENANAYGdnT69QRb
An Irish soldier of the Great War (WW 1) wrote this before he died in France on No Man's Land. He actually didn't want to serve but his naive little brother wanted so and thus went along to protect him which he succeeded but had to give his life. Many decades later a young girl in Sligo, Ireland called Deirdre finds this poem and sees the soldier wandering about as a ghost.1005Please respect copyright.PENANA9Pv1xuzajO

Knowing it, I quiver with dread.
Going on for nights and days without water and bread.
Waiting in the dark, mostly waiting for the dead.
Grasping tightly to the rifle for your life
Following a fog where you fling a courageous dive.
While the politicians sit, having their tea at five
We fight to survive.1005Please respect copyright.PENANAXN2ceh1W5P
