I like to sing, but nobody knows.

My self confidence has been damaged.

I sing a verse and I get,

”Wrong pitch!” “Your voice is too low! You sing like a man!”

I just wanted to sing.

It’s not my fault my voice is low.

That’s just called alto.

But still the insults come back,

choking my voice until it’s hidden away,

where no criticism will come.

I look around and listen to others.

Why are other girls able to sing so high?

I can’t.

My voice is low,

but apparently that’s not right.

So I don’t sing.

I want to,

but all I get are insults.

So why even try?
