Frogs, cicadas, crickets

All sang beyond the pond

The sky stained with stars

And the pond reflected

every single one of them.

You were there

Left arm embracing me

Together we stared off

into the never ending fields

Of beautiful green grass.

Neither of us said a word

At this moment we needed

nothing else in the world

Because nothing else mattered

We didn't think about school,

Or work, or parents

We didn't think about

The tiny sliver of sun

peaking from behind the trees

Slowly erasing our stars

That did not phase us

All that mattered

to me was you

and to you me

But we both knew

Our stars could not last

The sun came up

reality came into focus

Together hand in hand

we left our perfect world

For the dull gray

of the real world

I will never forget our

night by the pond

Or the warmth of your arms

Or natures song singing

sweetly in the background

I will never forget

Our bright, beautiful stars.
