I’m no hero I swear,

I’d probably exit pursued by a bear,

I would cower in fear,

Upon meeting an evil king

Or anything twice the size of me.

So don’t put me in a story,

I really don’t need glory.

The village, they called,

They beg of me to come,

Slay the dragon, they say,

In exchange for hay.

Really? I ask. Hay?

These people I’ve known,

Have pushed me around,

They teased me and prodded me,

And pelted me with stones.

So I said no.

They protest and I say,

I rather like this stump,

This stump is where I’ll stay,

I’d rather sit and eat all day,

Than for a bale of hay,

Risk my life to slay.
