The door turned.

Margot glided towards a group of vampires.

They drank from their ancient goblets.

'Margot, the Mistress of the House', Lady Lesley Jennings, smirked.

'Am I so unloved...'.

'That is not what I mean. You're young in our ways of living; you're here because of certain....legal procedures'.

'Legal...procedures'.

'Yes, legal matters. Father had a lawyer'.

'Oh, I see'.

'That is what interests me, Margot'.

'And'.

'And, you are afraid that I shall not be welcome here'.

'Yes, unless you are afraid of others. Vampires are nasty in New York; vampires aren't clean, if you know what I mean. They have violent tempers'.

'I know that'.

'Do you?'.

'Yes'.

And Margot rested her tired feet on the red chairs that were near the fireplace.
