Elliot wakes up, the golden glow of the next morning. He and Kaylee escaped, he dragged her for miles and did what first aid he could for her. She has some bullets lodged in the side of her stomach.244Please respect copyright.PENANApfS5x1xVB5
They stopped to rest, hiding inside a hollowed-out log for the night. "Kaylee." He says, gently waking her.
She groans, in slight pain. "We're almost near Centre Valley. Today is April 7th, the day the mission my friends and I went on, back in the old universe and on the 8th is when I uncovered your kidnapping Kade scheme.
I know it hurts, but you need to get up. The sooner we have you take your place in this world, getting rid of what is your evil twin running, we can move on."
"Elliot, I have bullets in me. I need a doctor, and even if we take problematic me out of the equation, there is still the other, other version of me that is the one responsible for kidnapping me and us being in this mess."
"Oh, shit." He speaks.
"What?" She groans.
"We left the clock in my room back at the military base."
"Will they find it?"
"Probably not, but, you or Ring on the other hand... Well, actually. I don't know. She would never walk into such a trap and Ring? I'm not there to mess with their operations at that temple near Centre Valley so they never find out Kiera is with us."
"There was treasure in that temple."
"Really?"
"Yeah, probably some small statue, a few coins. But nothing exceptional."
"Belongs in a museum though "
"I- Yeah, you're right."
"Can you take me to Ring after we make it into Centre Valley?"
"Kaylee, that's a full trip away. You sure you want to go there?"
"I have been shot, Elliot."
"But a Military doctor could patch you up too."
"Who we fled from; you monkey! They will seriously, genuinely jail us if we go back. We didn't about this plan too far. After I take my place back from me, where do we go next? How do we fix this? What is even the real, main objective? Because, I haven't got a clue."
"End this hell?"
"But is that even possible? Our lives began in a-lot of places. I did unthinkable things which in then shape my psych before I gave birth to Kiera and Kade. Your parents couldn't take care of you and you turned to a life of crime.
Ring like money, power and fun- controlling, manipulating others. Even if you never turned to crime when you we're younger, Dion and Gavin would still be a problem.
So many past, present and future people work for them, most of who you have never met."
"I didn't think of it like that."
"Of course, you didn't. Ow."
"V, your pain is getting worse."
"Just get me to Centre Valley, please." She please and Elliot reluctantly helps her up. They make it there and sneak over to her van.
Elliot still has his gun with him. "We need to get me outside." She whispers.
"How do we do that?"
"Trigger the alarm, don't pick it."
"How do you want me to trigger it?"
"The back door handles. You do that, the me inside the urgent care will come out, storming angry and I'll sneak up on me, 'absorbing her' and we take my van."
"But Kade?"
"Let him go, Elliot. There is nothing you can do to save him from himself, what he wants.
You can't save everyone from pain and trauma, he'll just flee."
"Hopefully he'll call Molly."
"Who?"
"Uh- Long story, I'll explain later. Get into position." He demands and they camp, waiting for Kaylee.
She comes out, clicking the alarm off with her car keys. When she is close to Elliot, Kaylee sneaks up, taking her by surprise, albeit still in pain though.
"Actually, the pain feels less now. But I can still feel the bullets."
They unlock the van and climb inside together. "Ready to deal with Kade?" Elliot asks. "Ready as I'll ever be." She responds and opens the door leading to the back from the front.
"Kade?" V whispers as her and Elliot creep forward, the back of the van shrouded in darkness.
"Can we have some lighting?" Elliot whispers and V reaches for a small bulb, pulling on the cord, but her other hand presses against her ribs like she's holding them while doing so.
Now that they have some light, they see Kade is awake and he looks pissed. Elliot reaches a hand towards, Kade to start undoing his restraints when he feels Kade's shoe despite the limited range of motion collide with his arm.
"Ow. Dude, seriously. Relax, I'm going to let you out of these."
Kade doesn't say a word, and Elliot unbuckles all of them. "Do you want help up?" Elliot offers, holding a hand out.
Kaylee let's out a heaved breath and collapses partially, needing to sit down.
Kade nods, not saying a word and takes Elliot's hand, helping a wobbly Kade stand when he feels Kade punch him hard in the face. For a short, little guy, he packs some punch, knocking Elliot to the floor.
He sees Kade leap into the front, opening the glove box, taking some stuff out and his ID, phone and bounces, leaving the van and start sprinting across the parking lot.
"Well, his gone for the hills." Elliot groans.
"Elliot."
"Yeah?"
"My bandages are soaking through. T-there is a first aid kit in the 2nd door of the small cabinet to your right."
He finds the first aid for her and removes the old one, wrapping fresh ones and finds some large sturdy medical gauze and pads, applying them as well.
Then he gently helps her into the passenger seat and climbs into the drivers seat himself, pulling the door Kade left open him in his escape closed.
"Can we go already?" Kaylee groans. "There is back roads I take to sneak into Canada and Ring is not far off them."
He doesn't say a word and starts up the van, Kaylee handing him her keys from her lab coat pocket. He looks at them for a moment, the sparkly chromsone keychain hanging off them.
"Elliot, yesterday please." She snaps.
"S-sorry!" He apologizes, thumbling as he tries to insert the keys into the ignition.
It's a long drive ahead of them, but they manage. Stopping every few hours so he can check Kaylee's wounds while she tries to remain still most of the time and they have Kaylee's debit card on them so there is no problem with paying for more gas, snacks and medical supplies.
His nervous towards the end of the drive as it's the hardest part, worried that a police car will pull up on them from nowhere because they're sneaking into Canada using un-monitored, although narrow and unmaintained roads.
The van bounces around every so often causing, Kaylee to hiss in pain every so often.
"We're almost there, V. Almost there. Just keep hanging on."
"I'm t-trying!"
It's starting to blizzard and Elliot can't see anything around for miles as he drives, the van skidding slightly every so often now and they're both shivering from the temperature.
When they hear the sound of what sounds like vehicle and then he sees someone wearing a thick snowsuit, unable to make out their face standing right in their way along the not existent path and Elliot sees a sniper rifle in his arms. Kaylee sits up slightly, looking over the dash.
"Hit the breaks!"
"What?"
"Hit the breaks, Elliot!"
And he slams them down, the van sliding a tad, throwing up show as it skids to a halt, the van ending up a slight angle, no longer straight.
The unknown person in-front of them lowers his rifle. Kaylee and Elliot look at each-other worried as they see more people appearing in the snow and a bigger than average blue tow-truck pulls into view.
They advance on the van, and one knocks on the window, signalling Elliot to roll it down. He does so, and they all look in at them, the one who knocked, snatching the keys out of the ignition on them.
"Names?" He says.
"E-elliot."
"Last name?"
"C-coleman."
"And her?"
"Kaylee Vaughn. You should know who she is." Elliot retorts and he sees the person adjust some glasses they are wearing and they pull out a walkie talkie as they look Kaylee over.
"Gavin?"
"Wha?" Responds a staticy voice.
"Did we have a client named Kaylee Vaughn?"
"....Yes? She's our highest paying client. Why?"
"She's uh, out here."
"What?"
"She has a young guy with her, says his name is Elliot Coleman. His the one driving, Kaylee looks injured."
"I know that name. Bring them both in, I'll gather Dion."
And someone opens the door on Kaylee's side, gently pulling her out and they carry her away.
The person on Elliot's side steps back, gesturing for Elliot to climb out. He obeys, and is hurried into another vehicle he couldn't see and seems them hook the van up to be towed.
They're rushed inside down a long corridor. They got a gurney stat for Kaylee who's shaking and crying out in pain as they push it, Elliot following along behind, shivering too, a blanket around his shoulders.
They arrive in a large foyer and see Dion Cohen standing there with Gavin Taylor and Nadine May is there, Bonnie present too.
"Holy shit, it's actually you." Dion says.
"Yeah, been a long time." Elliot responds quickly and Bonnie approaches Kaylee, roughly lifting up her shirt and pulling the blood soaked bandages aside to look at the wound.
"Yeah, this is a gun shot wound. At-least two bullets." She says. "They're in pretty deep.
We have a trauma room open, we'll take you in now. Hey, Jim. Run to stock and get everything. And when I see everything, I mean everything."
They start to wheel Kaylee and she opens her eyes, reaching her hand out for Elliot. He gently holds it. "It's going to be okay, they'll remove it. You're not bleeding as badly as you we're before."
And then he has to let go.
"This is not how I hoped to reunite with you and sorry if that comes off as too forward, but, what happened to her?
And why are you with her? What are you doing here?" Dion questions.
"Uh, she got shot."
"Well, that part is obvious. Who did it?"
"The American Military."
"You're kidding."
"No, they're on to her."
"Shit! Dion, our whole operation could go up in smoke!" Gavin panics, clutching Dion's shoulders.
"Relax, I won't let that happen. How much do they know?" Dion questions, Elliot.
"Not really anything. They're suspicious of her and I helped her run. They... captured her."
"And how we're you around?"
"I'm sorry?"
"How did you stumble across Kaylee and for you to both end up in military crossfire."
His silent, he had not prepared any answers ahead of time to deal with this.
"Elliot?" Dion snaps slightly harsher and he feels his stomach do leaps and ends up vomiting right there, on Dion's shoes.
"I'm sorry!"
"Okay, wow. Umm..." Dion says awkwardly. "It's okay, I'll clean em... Umm, Nadine. Can you take Elliot to the medical bay? Cause his been in that snowstorm to so his probably not feeling well."
"Yeah, sure. Come with me, we'll find you a bed." Nadine smiles, gently leading a shaking Elliot beneath a blanket off.
Dion looks to Gavin, glaring. "Uh, I-I'll find you a new pair of shoes." Gavin stammers.
"Yes, you will. Like yesterday. Go, go." 244Please respect copyright.PENANA1I4LB7cYZR

And Gavin hurries off, and Dion remains finishing talking with the additional workers who bought the van in.
"Bobby Green."
"Yes, Boss?" He responds.
"Find out what you can about what just happened. Something's not adding up, this was a long distance for Kaylee to come. While I understand why she made the journey as walking into any government hospital with bullet wounds is dangerous...
I know Elliot and I haven't seen him in years. Find out what he did after he was arrested and released and where my other old associates, Jerry Vance and Lance Strong are. I need to know if I can trust him. I don't know if he harmed Kaylee do I?
And interview Kaylee when she's out of surgery and medicated. Make her completely comfortable, anything she wants, she gets, understood? She is our highest paying client and you better serve her like she's damn royalty, treat her like a queen."
"Yes, of course. I'll start those things both right away."
"Good, and liaison with your supervisor, Nadine after she's settled Elliot in. She'll lead this. Now, I'm going to change." And Dion storms off.244Please respect copyright.PENANAyUAW5tuTRa
