Rhea pulls up to my house in the red Chevy, I’m sitting in the passenger side. Her playlist blasting out Haim. Her taking Este’s vocals and me being Danielle. My voice rings out and she smiles over at me. We couldn’t be more conspicuous about being young and in love could we?

She pulls over by my house just by Matthew’s car, he’s standing on the side leaning against it smoking a cigarette and my heart thumps. He smiles over at us, hearing our rendition of don’t wanna. I chuckle, well he did say he wanted to hear me sing more didn’t he?

I didn't think I could be more attracted to her than I already was. What is she playing at wearing a dress like that and expecting me to concentrate.
I glance over at her leather jacket draped around her shoulder, hair long and sleek down her sides and my only thoughts are that I am not good enough for this girl. What did I do to deserve this kind of luck, I've been a bad guy in the past I don't deserve this.

I've been up all night thinking about her for two whole days, I think I got around three hours sleep. Talking to her on the phone and knowing that she was falling asleep to the sound of my voice only makes me want to be closer to her. I imagine whispering to her every night and helping her to drift off in my arms. Part of me is so insecure that she will grow bored of me, or realise I am not right for her. Or worse decide Ross is a better option. That she will learn about the betting conversation and leave me. I'm a head case. And I need to chill.

Only eyes for each other, that's an interesting way of putting it. If I was to have eyes for anybody else, I don't, couldn't possibly, that would be the end of anything between us. I get the feeling she wouldn't be willing to just mess around. I couldn’t possibly share her, wouldn’t want to. I need her to myself, exclusively. It’s unlike me to wish for exclusivity especially after only a couple of days, yet here I am gazing at her in my car as I drive down the country lane to where I’m taking her. I’ve actually never taken any girl out to dinner before, it’s a first for me. I expect she’s been on many dates.

We turn into a small lane, and I remember not to miss the turning. It's a sharp one, and it's single track in and out, we used to joke about having to reverse all the way back down to let people out. I park up and jump out of the car at the same time as her.
