Ariana’s pov
The sun is beginning to rise as it paints the sky with golden yellow: Edward, Sisily, Nate, and I all sit in a circle.
We’ve been at this for what seems like hours. Edward had made me tell them every single detail about my dream of Will. They forced everything from the beach to the forest out of me. I was almost left confused by their interest in my dream when Nate explained to me that Will, as well as the rest of his family, have abilities, which have been given to them by the Moon Goddess. Each royal, who was royal by blood, was given three magical abilities by the Moon Goddess to help them keep the realm in order.
“Will, can dream walk... the dream you had could indicate that he is trying to find a way to you,” Nate continues, his forehead creased while he speaks slowly, each word spoken with perfect precision as if not completely sure what he is saying is true, “If he can meet you in his dream, he can potentially escape the effects of the drugs and the magic.”
I feel my heart squeeze, the strange tug at my heart has me almost unwinding in my seat, but I don’t let it get to me, “What are we going to do?”
“We’re not exactly sure.”
What if it’s just the witch who is behind this? What if Andria is an innocent in all this? Surely, she wouldn’t betray her mate like this. I look at the Prince, my eyes fixing on his, anybody could be behind this.
Thoughts spin around in my head. It doesn’t take me long to conclude that this goes further than what it seems.
“We’re not sure how Andria’s got a witch to help her or who this witch is. We don’t even know how powerful this witch is.” The Prince says, his voice a stealthy calm, my eyes boring holes into his. Something about the way he says it makes me not want to believe him.
“What if Andria’s not the one behind all this? What if it’s the witch alone?” Nate says, his voice quiet.
“The only way that is possible is hypnosis, and that still doesn’t explain how the drugs went missing,” the prince says.
“Hypnosis?” I bite out while folding my arms against my chest.
“Yes, hypnosis,” Sisily replies.
Hypnosis.
“Are you listening to yourselves?” I say, standing up, my anger getting the better of me as I look around the room at everyone. “Hypnosis is part of dark magic, which is illegal and can make a witch go crazy. Why would any witch do such a thing when they know the consequences? I don’t think a witch is involved, the drugs, I believe, but not the witch part.”
I look at Nate as much as I want to believe that Andria is an innocent in all this we have to look at the facts,” Witches are loyal to the King. They know what happens when they don’t follow the Alpha King’s command. So why would any of them go against the king or even help Andria.” I sneer out.
Nate’s eyes widen with everyone else’s, I don’t think anyone expected this outbreak from me. Neither did I, but the emotions that I felt from the dream, the coronation ball, and everything else seemed to pour out. I don’t know what to believe. I don’t know who to trust. Everyone seems to believe Andria is Will’s mate, apart from the wolves in the room.
Is it even possible to fool such a large majority of wolves? If Andria wasn’t Will’s mate, someone should have found out by now.
“What’s going on, Ari?” Nate whispers out, his perplexed look making my thoughts even worse.
I pace around the room, my hands clenching and unclenching at my side. ” I don’t know... I don’t know...” I repeatedly whisper out loud, the anxiety of not knowing what was happening around me getting the better of me, till I feel a pair of hands grasp onto my shoulders and steer me towards a chair. I look up to realize it’s the Prince, I almost want to move away from his hold, but I stay put and let him seat me on a chair.
" Calm down.” He whispers.
I nod in agreement, “I just don’t know what to believe...the dream...my sister.” My voice sounds perched as I swallow harshly, the migraine making it difficult to speak.
My eyes almost gloss over as I look up and meet Nate’s eyes, “Will our sister do something like this?”
Nate lets out a shrug that seems too careless for my liking, “We don’t know Ari. It could be her. It could be somebody else. We don’t know.”
“But we do know whoever ever done this will be severely punished.” The Prince says, something hidden behind his dark eyes.
“Are you sure that she was your mate?” I ask, hoping he would say no.
He reluctantly nods his head in yes, “I felt the mate bond, and that’s why she’s our biggest suspect.”
“But what if somebody’s using her,” I say.
“We don’t know that, but what I can tell you is that we have eyes everywhere right now,” Nate whispers out loud as he pushes my hair back and starts to braid it. It’s something he’s always done whenever I am stressed, the gentle tugging of my hair strangely soothing as it helps distract me from the problem on hand. I almost want to push him away, but I don’t know that it would help me think more clearly.
“You have spies?" I ask.
I only get a nod for a response.
