MOM (please get out of my room)

I was writing

in my journal

late at night

when I heard the door

creak open

Fayth, are you all right?

Yeah, I'm fine

My voice came out

flat like the

horrible pancakes she

makes sometimes.

She takes a seat

on my desk chair

THE DRIVE

My mom and I

used to pick up Mara

to drive to school,

but this year

Mrs. Green told

us that Mara

wanted to take the

Nasty,

Trashy,

Noisy,

Stupid bus.

And I am stuck

in the front seat

of my mom’s

messy Hyundai SUV

listening to

‘Shake It Off’ by

Ol’ Taylor Swift

but I can’t shake

off the saddened look

on my face

CRUSH (my heart)

I hop out of the car

with my pale purple

backpack and

walk towards the gate

to Tree Ridge Middle School.

Then, we make eye contact

somehow

but I break away first.

Connor Niften

I’m 99.9% sure he is the most

popular guy in my grade

And I know that he will never

notice ME

like ME

or even speak to ME

But all of that could happen,

MaybE

SORTA THE SAME

All of my days at school are

sorta the same.

I go to first period,

which is supposed to be science,

but is actually Mr. Conley

talking about his super weird life.

I run to second period

and learn about history

which isn’t all too bad,

but then I go to third period

and all of my life’s worries

go away.

I get to write my heart out,

but there is never enough time

because reality kidnaps me

from my joyful world

and I have to sit alone at lunch

listening to the loud conversations

of other people who have friends.

After those horrible 30 minutes,

I go to my Spanish class

and learn some español

(I mean, obviously)

and afterwards I go to my

math class which

really isn’t as bad as

everyone says it is

and then FINALLY

it is last period

which is ELA.

As you know,

I LOVE WRITING SO MUCH

but this class is not my thing.

At all.

Like, writing essays is so

horrible because its all

formatted and you have

to use all of these

weird and gross words,

and doing grammar...

why are there so many

weird rules for words in

the english language?

But then I get to go

home

and I get to write some more

poems in my journal
