The next day I woke up and got ready for school. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door. I was about 5 blocks away from school when a car pulled up next to me. I glanced at the car and saw it was Nick driving. He rolled down the window and asked if I wanted a ride. I agreed and quickly got in the car.
"Hey Rose. So...are you ready for our date tomorrow?" He asked smiling.
" Uhh yeah. All good to go" I nervously said.
I looked out the window and saw we were at school. I secretly was watching Nick and how focused he was while driving. He pulled in the school and parked his car.
"Thanks for giving me a ride Nick" I shyly smiled at him.
" You're welcome" he said looking at me. We just stared at each other for what felt like hours. I took in all his features. "God he was so hot" I thought. I noticed he was getting closer to my face. Next thing I knew we were almost kissing. I could feel his breath on my face. We were so close. I started to lean in a little bit to connect our lips when the morning bell suddenly went off. I jumped apart from him and nervously laughed.
"W-we should probably...uhh..g-get to class" I stuttered. I unbuckled my seatbelt and started to open the door.
"Rose..wait" I heard Nick say. I was already out the door and quickly said "Thanks for the ride!"
I closed the car door and rushed off to class. I blushed so hard it looked like I was sunburnt. "Oh my god...we almost kissed...I almost kissed Nick Mossman. Oh my fucking god" I thought to myself.
During all my classes all I could think about was the almost kiss with Nick. Finally the bell for lunch rang and I went to go find Nadine. I saw her in the cafeteria and went by her. We got our lunch and went to go sit outside.
"I almost kissed Nick this morning" I blurted out.
"What was that?" She asked.
" I...I almost kissed Nick this morning" I repeated.
" Tell me. It's story time and I'm listening" Nadine said to me.
" Well....I was walking to school and a car pulled up next to me. I saw it was Nick and he offered me a ride. When he parked the car in school his face was getting closer to me and I just thought is the car getting smaller or is he getting closer? Then his face was right in mine. I was gonna kiss him Nadine. I fucking swear I was gonna do it. But then the bell rang and I ran out"
" Oh my god I'm an idiot" I facepalmed. "Well...I do have a date with him tomorrow" I said looking at Nadine.
"You've grown up. My little baby is growing up" Nadine pretended to cry and wipe the tears from her eyes.
"I think...I think I like Erwin" Nadine said to me.
"That's awesome Nadine! I can tell he really likes you. I've seen you guys hanging out around school. He looks like he's in love with you" I squealed at Nadine.
" Yeah yeah, okay Rose" Nadine sarcastically said.
The bell rang and we both headed off to our last 2 classes. Unfortunately Nick was in my last one. I walked in and sat in the seat I always do. A minute later Nick came in and sat right next to me.
"Hi Rose" Nick said.
"H-hey Nick" I stuttered. I looked down at my desk shyly until Nick said my name again.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Do you want a ride after school? I know you usually walk, but I'd like to give you a ride if that's okay" Nick said to me.
" Uhh...yeah okay. You can give me a ride home" I shyly smiled at him. The teacher walked in and I then focused on writing notes.
The bell rang signaling the end of school. Nick lead me to his car and we both got in. It was silent for awhile until Nick broke the silence.
"Sorry about earlier today. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable" he said.
" No no. It's okay. I wasn't uncomfortable...i-it was just the heat of the moment. It's fine." I told him blushing a little.
" Okay" he said glancing at me. "I'll pick you up at six tomorrow. Is that okay? He asked me.
"Yeah that's perfect" I smiled. The rest of the ride was silent, but it was a good silent. We kept glancing at each other and smiling. I don't get how people say he's a bad guy. He's actually really nice. We finally arrived at my house.
"Thanks for the ride Nick" I smiled at him.
" No problem. Bye Rose" he replied
"Bye Nick" I waved as I closed the door.
I walked inside and cleaned up the mess my mom made before she went to work. I don't know how they haven't fired her yet. I counted 3 bottles of beer and an empty bottle of vodka. I sighed. After I was done I went to take a shower and finish up my homework. I heard my phone beep as soon as I finished it. I saw it was text from Nadine. She said she was going to hang out with Erwin at his pool.
I texted her back saying : Good luck ;)
After that I read for a few hours until it started to get dark. I got into bed and went to sleep before my mom could come home.
