With research on specific subjects in current experiments within the AVPSI, plenty of claims have been made to encourage the addiction to caffeine, (and to some amount stronger stims not limited to cocaine), though this will focus on caffeine due to its ease of access. At the same time, many have documented positive effects on psionic abilities after taking this drug, especially in pill form. However, with certainty that caffeine itself does not actually affect the Cora sector of the brain, further investigation needed to be launched. While it did not take long for an answer to arrive, Scryers discovered that those who have caffeination have a sharper, though brief moment of focus and sometimes mental clarity. One sharp requirement to use a psionic ability for an already active Scion is strong and sharp focus, while mental clarity helps at the same time. CGRP and Cox-2 Inhibitors were never of interest to the AVPSI in the past. However, some of the subjects sometimes experience chronic headaches. The AVPSI has insisted to the subjects and to themselves that psionic abilities have absolutely nothing to do with headaches, and their claim seems to be fairly supported with data. Naturally, one of the subjects, #24 experimented frequently with painkilling medication, and one day came across one of these inhibitors. The results were not reported until much later, but it appears that subject #24 strongly reacted to the medication in a precarious manner. Interested in the possibility of no coincidence, the AVPSI researched this medicine to study its effect on those who are active Scions. It turns out that the effect of this medication has a powerful suppression effect on the Cora Sector of the brain, for reasons unknown to the AVPSI. The medication’s effect (and the danger of prolonged atrophy) not only slows down this part of the brain in more active subjects, but can permanently disable their psionic senses. (It is worth mentioning that not all of these inhibitors resulted in the same effect, psionically speaking). Subjects only took a single dose, and therefore returned to their status a few days later. The similar reaction in the other unnamed subject proved to the AVPSI that this inhibitor, along with a similar drug (Cox-2 Inhibitor) is extremely dangerous to a psionically active person, whereas the effect is minimal on someone who is not trained to use psionic powers. The mysteries of this effect are still unknown, but all Scions associated with the AVPSI have adamantly been warned to stay far away from any kind of inhibitor for these reasons, a warning extending particularly to purged subjects. Still, it also has an interest to note that the effects of this medication may someday point to further discoveries about how the Cora sector of the brain operates through reverse-engineering of such medication.
