Experiment #16, which occurred in late 2003, marked another small tragedy of the overall purge experiment process. In the eyes of those sending purges, this entire process was no longer seen as an experiment, rather as an important role to play when getting involved in the lives of the Human aliens. Purging was also becoming much more popular during this period, though not much insight exists as to why. As for the AVPSI, specifically those of the Royal Scryers, and with on-record exception for LQQ, the purging process never ceases to be experimental. Unfortunately, not every purge is a success. Some purges can fail simply for reasons that inhibit the completion of the purge process. Some purges are considered failures even when the purge process does complete successfully, like in experiment #13. For nearly four years, #16 lived her life alongside AG16, her primary node, with her secret telepathic communications as a backdrop. Despite this bond, near the end of #16's high school experience, she called AG16 one last time, and bid the entire team a personal farewell, with reasons mounting to wanting to live a normal (human) life, which also meant cutting ties with all psionic abilities including telepathy. The situation never really improved, and this last time really was the final connection for both nodes. As such, AG16 retired from their positions, and the current whereabouts of #16 are not known to this day. Voluntary Rejection is the term of reference in events, when a subject who is successfully purged (after completion and introductions), willfully rejects further communication with their Altiri Node (the Altiri who purged them). The manner in which this limited version of telepathy works, gives full freedom to that human in determining when, where, and how all future telepathic links will be established, after the very first is ceased. This in turn means that a primary node needs to be aware that the human they purge has total access and freedom to put an end to the telepathic connections permanently, even though what was lost in the process can never be given back. What happened in experiment #16 reveals the total dark side of any and all possible purges going forward, that a purge may wind up costing a whole team everything for nothing in return, even if it seems as though things are going well. The mind of any person can be unpredictable, and so, at the very least, all Altiri Scions considering invoking a purge must be absolutely prepared for every possible consequence and eventuality. Despite this revelation, purging has not necessarily become any less popular, at least between this moment etched in time and current year (2024).
